The Qi charger is designed to work with the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 and comes in black. With a 9W 1.8A AC Adaptor, microUSB cable and the all-important warranty card, new Nexus device owners can start juicing up their machines as soon as the disc arrives on their doorsteps.

Purchase one now, and that could be as early as Thursday.

It's costume and candy time, and the treats just keep coming from Google.

The search giant unveiled its Nexus 5 flagship and Android 4.4 KitKat earlier, and now it's unearthed a new Nexus wireless charger, as well.

Google's new wireless charging pad is officially compatible with the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7, though as a Qi charger it should also be compatible with devices like the Nexus 4 and even some Nokia devices.

But the new Google wireless charger also features magnets that help devices stick to it, a feature that only works with devices that also have magnets in them. Currently, that's only the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.

The new Google Nexus wireless charging pad features a redesigned look and feel that better matches the aesthetic of the Nexus 5.

The pad is an upside-down trapezoid, a square that's wider on top, with a glossy black finish that looks like it might be slippery for devices without magnets in them.

Compare it to the Nexus 4's wireless charger, which resembles a hockey puck with sticky rubber on top.

The Nexus 5 and Nexus 7-compatible wireless charging pad is expected to go on sale today in the Google Play Store, though pricing is still unknown.

Updated: Twitter removes option to get DMs from any old follower

Update: As of November 19, the option to receive DMs from any follower has been removed.

When quizzed on the matter, Twitter's reps simply provided a link to Twitter's experimentation page, which seems to imply that it's just trying a few things out so don't get too hyped up.

No word on that standalone DM app either...

If you're a friendly, sociable type, you may be pleased to hear that Twitter is adding the option to receive direct messages from anyone who follows you.

At the moment, only people you follow can send you private messages over Twitter, and you can only DM people who follow you.

However, one eagle-eyed settings lover reports that there's a new option in his settings: "Receive direct messages from any follower."

Although it doesn't seem to have made an appearance in every Twitter user's options yet, the tick-box affair seems to default to un-ticked, meaning you'll have to opt-in if you want strangers to be able to contact you privately.

While some are concerned that enabling this option will see their inboxes inundated with spam, it may actually encourage us all to report spammy followers instead of quietly letting them boost our follower numbers.

We've asked Twitter if this is just a quick experiment or a feature that will be rolling out to all users over the coming weeks.

Review: Updated: Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2013)

With 2GB on board storage, a 212 ppi resolution, a "25% faster processor" (Amazon wasn't very forthcoming on the exact speed) and weighing in at 206 grams, the latest Paperwhite is taking aim at the higher-end of ereader specs.

And at £109 it's definitely cost effective. The Kobo Aura HD is probably the most comparable device in a similar range, but even with a more impressive list of specs, the Paperwhite seems to have executed the ereading experience very well.

It just goes to show that execution is just as important, if not more, as pumping a device full of shiny fast things.

Amazon knows a thing or two about ereaders, that much is clear from almost every version of the Kindle, and it's never been more apparent than in its 6th generation model.

This almost epitomises everything you would expect from an ereader, it's truly an achievement in ereading technology. It almost feels wrong that the Kindle arrived at our doorstep via a sweaty postman, rather than being delivered to us by a mythical stalk whilst a barbershop quartet of cupids provided an angelic backing chorus.

Surprisingly, the specifications aren't actually mind blowing, and there are some basic features that Amazon is still yet to introduce into its ereader and tablet devices - most notably external storage.

No colour on this model

This new version of the Kindle typifies the word 'improvement'. We don't mean that it's jumped leaps and bounds from the previous version, we mean that it has been tweaked and honed to provide a polished experience that improves on anything Amazon has produced in earlier years.

It weighs slightly less and the backlight has been redesigned to reduce eye strain - amongst some other small upgrades. If the Kindle was a piece of software, this version would be an update rather than a new release.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, because Amazon has clearly focused its efforts on the actual reading experience, which is actually a delight. The addition of reading apps like X-Ray and Smart Lookup are game changers that go further than other devices on the market.

Updated: BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9982 launches as metal clad Z10

What should a company do when it's in trouble? Well if you're BlackBerry apparently it's launch a premium smartphone for the high rollers - introducing the BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9982.

While it's got an all-new name and the Porsche Design branding splashed across its front, the P'9982 is actually a humble BlackBerry Z10 in a swanky Italian leather and stainless steel suit.

The only hardware difference is the P'9982 comes with a sizeable 64GB of internal storage, trumping the paltry 16GB found in the Z10.

A porsche in the hand is worth less than one in the drive…just

That means you get the same 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 4.2-inch 720p display, 8MP camera and the latest BlackBerry 10.2 OS - the P'9982 is certainly going for style over substance, then.

What you do get is an official certificate of authentication in the box, plus an exclusive BlackBerry pin which starts "2AA" to let everyone know you're part of this elite club.

In terms of on-screen goodies the P'9982 comes with a grey wallpaper (yes, plain grey), a special Porsche Design ringtone and a dedicated area in App World.

In terms of price, this smartly dressed Z10 is going to set you back a fair bit, although the exact price hasn't been announced.

TechRadar has been told that it'll sport a similar price tag to the previous Porsche Design smartphone - the P'9981 - which retailed at around £1,500.

Update: BlackBerry has told TechRadar "information on pricing for the P'9982 will be announced through Porsche Design and other retail partners. The suggested retail price for the P'9982 smartphone is £1450."

Meanwhile the Z10 can be yours for just £200.

At that price you'd think that the P'9982 would be a limited edition phone, but BlackBerry has said it'll sell as many as it can - so if you really want one you won't need to know "someone on the inside."

If you're sold then you'll be able to nab the Porsche Design P'9982 from November 21 in selected retailers around the world - with Harrods in the UK getting the handset exclusively from that date.

Update: The P'9982 will be available at Carphone Warehouse from November 25 for £1400 SIM-free and Selfridges at a later, currently unspecified date.

We showed you UK Traffic Information on video a while back and it's great to see that the developer is adding new features to the application. For the good folk of Great Britain this BlackBerry 10 app is a must have if you are setting off on a long car journey. After all, what is worse than getting stuck in a traffic jam for ages?

As we told you before - the application provides all delays on the UK's major roads. Just press the incident and the full details will pop up full screen and you can even see where the problem is on a map. Delays can even be shared via BBM if you are traveling with friends which is a great feature to have.

Included in version 1.0.0.1:

I played with the pre-release q10 a few times..it was so buggy and slow because it was a pretty early build.....BUT I still had intense orgasms when I used the keyboard.. 1 more day for Canada release.. can't wait to switch my stupid iPhone 5.. and finally have an all blackberry device family.

During the past month, both NBC News and Tumblr were two examples of official apps hitting the Windows Phone Store for the first time. We’d had a handful of others, like Fidelity and GoComics, join the fray recently. Apps joining the Windows Phone ecosystem are just one sign of the how well the platform is doing. Another sign is how frequently those apps get updated. The forecast? Sunny with a chance of tiles since both NBC News and Tumblr have been updated. Let’s see what’s new.

NBC News

The app now sports a redesigned live tile. The NBC development team tweaked the live tile based on your feedback in the review section of the Store. Spot the differences? Grab NBC News for Windows Phone 8 right here or use the QR code below.

Tumblr

The changes are a little hard to find for the recent Tumblr update. There were a handful of features you guys wanted to see added in future releases of the app, but we’re not seeing them yet. It most likely is just performance/bug fixes in the latest update. Our own Daniel reports that the app would crash when using voice commands and that seems to be fixed. Why not just hit the home button instead. It seems like being able to go back to the main page is pretty logical for people who enjoy more than one section. Just exit by hitting home,it won't slow down your phone by running in the background or anything. This isn't android.

I beg to differ. IMO, if I click on the tile of an app, and then click back, I should be back to the start screen. And other news apps have implemented this logic for their secondary tiles, eg. CNN, Al Jazeera for WP8 and USA Today. Even Nextgen Reader secondary tile behaves this way if IIRC.
Moreover, folks who like to read news from multiple sections can have the app's primary tile pinned.
Maybe the behavior can be based on an option in the settings? I can't recollect right now, but I think there is an app that sets this behavior based on an option in the settings.

Tumblr I don't see any improvements in though.  It still desperately needs support for incoming messages though, whether they're asks or 'fan mail.'
