Work Tips Tuesday: Finding a Job Out of State

26-Nov-13 8:00 AM  CST

Finding a job out of state is not impossible, but it does take persistence and perseverance to locate the right position in other localities.  Here are some well researched tips from various sources to help you find your dream job out of state:

Research.  Be sure to research the location you wish to live in.  The job will be a big part of your life, but you will also want to live in an area you desire as well.  Research housing, schools, neighborhoods, services, medical care, and crime rates. Be realistic.  Research moving costs and what it will run for you to relocate.  Moving costs can add up quickly.  Your potential employer may or may not pay for relocation to another state so keep that in mind that you may have to pay your own moving costs.   Stay focused and don’t give up.  Keep your dream alive and work towards achieving your relocation goal each week and know that dreams do come true.

Start planning early for your relocation.  Also consider making a list of pros and cons to moving to the location of your choice.  It’s better to make a smart move than a wrong decision you will regret.
